The Night Bazaar runs nightly and has a more permanent, semi-touristy retail feel. The Sunday Walking Street, by contrast, takes over the main road through the Old City just one evening a week and has a stronger local, handmade-crafts atmosphere, with the road itself closed to traffic. If you only have one evening, the Sunday market tends to feel more distinctly Chiang Mai; if you're around on other nights, the Night Bazaar is the reliable, always-on option.
